Vision of Anime, INC

We are a Non-Stock Corporation, registered with the State of Wisconsin. We are not affiliated with any schools or other organizations. VOA is a completely independent club, run by our members for the love of Japanese anime, manga, video games and the Asian culture.

About the Club

VOA is the premier anime club in the Milwaukee area. We meet on the first and third Friday's of each month. Our general meetings offer a wide variety of activities which include watching anime on a big projector screen, playing video games, table top games, meeting other anime fans and lots of socializing. The club offers a variety of Japanese snacks, drinks and pizza at our meetings, with all the proceeds going to cover the club's expenses.

We are not your typical anime club. At Vision of Anime, you get to meet other anime fans, make new friends and then watch anime, play games, eat some pizza, pocky and drink some ramune all in one place (or at the same time). Being an independent club offers us greater flexibility in how we run our meetings, who can run for Officer positions and allows the club to reach more anime fans. Our focus is about bringing anime fans together and educating the public about anime. Knowing our club brings so much joy to so many fans is why we continue on this mission. We love anime, we love anime fans and we love this club.

History

Formed in the Summer of 1999 by a handful of anime fans, Vision of Anime has grown beyond the original ideas and concepts once held. On September 24th, VOA held its fist public video meeting at Lost World of Wonders. There were about 10 people there, mostly friends who had contributed to VOA's conception and one new person showed up. Most people stood around talking to each other, setting the stage for years to come. This was the night where VOA signed up it's first new member. The club changed meeting locations and began meeting at the 8th Note Coffee House in UW-Milwaukee.

During the Summer of 2000, we had meeting location troubles. As the 8th Note was closed during Summer and Lost World was no longer available for meetings. We usually managed to get a room somewhere in UW-Milwaukee's Union, though we usually ended up starting late, and attendance dwindled a bit.

In June of 2000, a new officer position was created of Vice President, and filled by Tim Davis. In July, our first President, Robin Turner, announced she was getting married and moving to Pennsylvania. So we wished her well, and Tim took over running the club until the elections in September. During the elections we acquired a new face as our new president, Peter Zimmer. More history coming soon...
